LATINGENTS TOY DRIVE

The Latin Gents Car Club host a monthly show in the Westminster, California, Walmart parking lot. On Dec. 14, the event featured the club’s annual toy drive. The Latin Gents club is for Chevys between 1930-54, but all makes and years were welcome to the December show. Most of the club cars are what are known as “bombs,” accessorized, lowered ’30s through early ’50s Chevys. When they cruise, they’re low and slow.

The weather was as you’d expect for a mild Southern California winter, cool and clear. A DJ spun tunes and raffle prizes were distributed (including a flat-screen TV). Awards were presented for excellent custom cars, and the toys collected went to needy kids.

With a Chevy 6 motor, Chevy headlights, Hudson taillights and a Merc dash, owner Able Avila of Cerritos, CA, has a very unique ’26 Ford T sedan.

This ’53 Chevy five-window pickup belongs to Henry Asencio from Stanton, CA.

Jack Acosta of Stanton owns this very clean ’53 Chevy pickup.

Nice detail and finish on a very contemporary ’67 Chevy Chevelle muscle car owned by Mike Cuthbertson of Huntington Beach, CA.

Double suicide doors and a vented third side window are just some of the oddities of a stock ’35 Chevy Master Deluxe owned by Marco Hernandez.

Robert and Linda Avila of Lake Forest, CA, keep their cool ’54 Chevy Del Rey very clean.

Tom Malone uses his hot rod orange small-block Chevy-powered ’56 Chevy 3100 pickup to tow his Airstream trailer.

When the toy drive was finished, this pickup bed was overflowing.
Hector and Melina Zavala rode their cool “Ho Ho Ho!” bikes to the show.
