JL Audio has introduced four new ProWedge enclosed subwoofer systems that are compact in size and designed to deliver stunning output and stellar sonics in a variety of vehicles and applications. Two models feature the popular W6v3 subwoofer drivers, the third generation of the W6 pedigree that represents a giant leap forward in the quest for small box bass perfection. The 10-inch 10W6v3 is featured in either a single or dual configuration. The CNC-cut high-grade MDF-sealed enclosures are covered in quality black automotive carpet and are designed to deliver smooth, powerful and articulate bass.
The other models have JL Audio’s ultra-thin TW3 subwoofers that offer very shallow mounting depth, making them ideal for challenging installations that demand excellent output and fidelity. The 10-inch TW3 is featured in either a single- or dual-opposed configuration. The ultra-compact design allows for unobtrusive placement in a wide range of vehicles.
A super-tough polymer grille is included to protect each subwoofer driver. Built in JL Audio’s factory in Miramar, Florida, each enclosure proudly states, “Built in the USA” with the JL Audio logo embroidered into the side.
The TS-W3003D4 has an exceptionally strong cone that can produce massive air movements without flexing or buckling. The subwoofer’s cone is enhanced with a dual-layer elastic polymer surround, reinforced drive cone and dual spider to ensure crystal clear bass output. For further reliability and great sound quality, the subwoofer uses a four-layer copper voice coil with an aluminum former that improves heat dissipation for higher input power handling and air vents in the metal basket construction below the spider to alleviate pressure buildup in the chamber and cool the voice coil. The subwoofer is made to produce powerful bass output using both customized and prefabricated enclosures.
The new LO series subwoofers and loaded enclosures from Lightning Audio are an affordable option for clean, deep bass. They’re also the perfect complement to the company’s new speaker and source unit lines. The new LO series includes the 150-watt (RMS) L0-S410 10-inch and L0-S412 12-inch subwoofers, as well as a single 12-inch and double 12-inch loaded enclosures to round out the line. They feature a stamped steel basket with spider venting to help reduce voice coil former temperature and increase power handling; a nitrile butadiene rubber half-roll surround in order to provide proper stiffness and thickness for optimum performance; and nickel-plated spring loaded terminals for easy installation and enhanced conductivity.
The new 38LE is the culmination of more than three decades of R&D and manufacturing expertise. It employs machined aluminum face plates for the tweeter and midrange, titanium voice coils in the woofers, and carbon fiber/Rohacell sandwich cones. Add the advanced crossover with top quality components and Lotus grille and you begin to see why the 38 is a CEA 2014 Innovations Award recipient. This set, available as a two- or three-way system, was designed to perform well on- or off-axis, and delivers what you would expect to hear from speakers of this stature: a beautifully natural, dynamic and articulated sound.
The PDR-F50 four-channel digital amplifier is one of three models from the brand-new PDR amplifies series. The PDR amplifiers have been designed from the ground up. They feature new aggressive styling with heat sinks on the left and right sides. The backlit Alpine badge can be removed and rotated so that it’s always facing straight, no matter how the amplifier is installed in the vehicle. The control panel is accessible from the top for easy access to sound controls once the amplifier is installed.
The PDR-F50 has a small footprint of 9 W x 6.5 D x 2 H inches, but packs a punch, with output power rated at 85W RMS x 4 at 4 ohms/125W RMS x 4 at 2 ohms.
Pioneer’s highly popular GM-A series amplifiers were completely redesigned to be more compact in every dimension, including height, to increase physical installation flexibility. Available in four models, the amps incorporate a smaller chassis, slimmed down significantly in size from the previous generation.
Each model also features a variety of audio adjustments for increased sound quality. The more powerful models, GM-A6604 and GM-A5602, include variable bass boost that can be set to levels from 0-12 dB for optimizing bass levels according to preference and music style. The GM-A6604 also features variable adjustments from 0-12 dB, and the GM-A5602 provides three step adjustments (0 , 6 and 12 dB) for precise control and overall audio balance.
The new Kicker QS series is fully equipped with stout mid-bass woofers, tonally precise 30mm tweeters and a high-quality crossover network that blend to form an audiophile-quality component set perfect for your drive. Two models are available and are sure to fit your doors or kick panels. Tri-Tech three-ply cones on the woofers deliver stunning bass and midrange, while the tweeters incorporate Tetoron domes for a smooth, natural sound.
