The 17th Annual Event Shows Off the City of El Segundo
El Segundo has gone through quite a lot of changes during the time it’s hosted this show. The comfortable, quaint, vintage-style town of 16,000-plus looks much the same as it did years ago, and downtown Main Street looks like a ’60s-era movie set. But if you look around you’ll see the high-rise buildings on the east side along Sepulveda, the west side has the Hyperian water treatment plant and the Pacific Ocean, to the north is L.A. Airport, and the Chevron refinery occupies the south side. Throughout the previous 17 years, though, the Main Street Car Show has been a constant.
The 17th annual event, presented by the El Segundo Police Officers Association, was held near the end of August. This show is traditionally open to all makes and models of cars and trucks, and there was plenty of everything to be seen. It helped that the weather was clear and warmed up by about 10 a.m., and later the tree-lined streets provided shade.
The very unique event logo was produced by Troy Stephens III and Boiling Point Creative Group of El Segundo. Spectators and participants enjoyed vendor wares, raffles, a 50/50 drawing, live music by the Russell & Chuck Project and great food, which was available all along Main Street. Of course there were all of the incredible vehicles that you can see on these pages. If you haven’t seen this unique city, it’s worth a visit. We recommend you do that for next year’s show.
