CALIFORNIA DRIVE! 2

We mourn the passing of one of our ambassadors, Don Mayden, who died suddenly on the 7th of August in his home in Fortuna, CA. He was born March 22, 1940, and is survived by his wife, Arlene Rose Mayden and his children.

As noted in his obituary, Don was a vetern, having served our country in the Navy and Reserve. He was a member of the American Legion, a corp member of People for the Republic and member of the Eel River Empire Masonic Lodge.

Don was a business owner who worked in mechanical contracting. But more than that he was family man and of course a car guy. As his wife Arlene told us, he cherished his 1972 Impala convertible and a 1973 pearl-white T-top Corvette, which had a personalized license plate, “Drive 2”. He was proud of his affiliation with the magazine and we were honored to have him as an ambassador.

Our condolances to Arlene and daughter Denise and son David, who inherited Don’s prized vehicles. A material possession is no consolation for having lost a loved one, but we hope that in a way they serve to keep them connected to the husband, the father.

Thanks go to Arlene for sharing her thoughts with us and the photo below.
