Enhance Your Truck’s Front End with an Engineered Vintage Aluminum Fabricated Grille: Installation Made Easy”

Installing an Engineered Vintage Aluminum Fabricated Grille

One thing I love about the truck industry is that enthusiasts and companies are always bringing new products to market. I especially love it when that new product is exactly what I’m looking for. Engineered Vintage is one of those companies that is a small business founded in March 2021 by a fellow truck enthusiast, Ben Kohler, who has an engineering background. Ben started Engineered Vintage by selling fabricated shackles and behind-the-bumper winch mounts for 4×4 trucks. This quickly expanded into aluminum fabricated grilles for C10s. More specifically for 1971-’72, 1973-’74 and 1977-’79 Chevrolet C10s. Each grille is cut on a CNC machine and meticulously TIG welded by hand. Engineered Vintage also offers a 1969-’77 fabricated steel Blazer bucket seat back cover, and it is constantly introducing new products. Soon it will be expanding its aluminum fabricated grille selection to include GMC and Ford.

01. The packaging of this grille was done very well. It was tightly packed with plenty of cushion so your grille is not damaged during shipping. This grille was in perfect condition after being shipped nearly 3,000 miles from Oregon to Florida.

02. The first step in this installation is removing the original grille. There are fasteners located on the top and bottom of the grille. Once removed, the grille slides straight out.

Engineered Vintage sent us its 1977-’79 grille in a brushed finish for my 1979 K5 Blazer, and let me tell you, this grille is NICE!! You can opt for a brushed or polished finish with these grilles. As soon as I took delivery of this beauty, I jumped right into the install which, to be honest, is probably the easiest upgrade I have ever done to the Blazer.

03. The Engineered Vintage grille mounts to the truck with the supplied brackets. The brackets are bolted in pre-existing holes on the radiator core support with the supplied hardware.

04. Once the brackets are installed, you can either install the grille as-is with the Engineered Vintage logo or pick up a new Bow Tie emblem from Auto Metal Direct and install on the new grille. The new Bow Tie emblem mounts over the Engineered Vintage logo through pre-drilled holes.
05. Carefully position the grille in place and use the supplied fasteners to secure the grille to the new brackets. Slide the grille to be centered in the opening and tighten the fasteners. I applied a drop of blue Loctite just to be sure the fasteners would not become loose on a long road trip.

06. Within 30 minutes, this installation is complete, and you now have a beautiful aluminum fabricated grille to finish off the look of your rig. Check out the contact info in the Source Box to see what all they have for your truck.
