Mike Alexander January 03, 2024 C10 Builders Guide
Man, oh man, how time flies. The nostalgia, the smell of classic iron, the gathering of friends around the next mod and build—it’s what dreams are made of, right?
But something even more special and personal has come to light in my own custom automotive journey. Passing on this love for custom trucks to your kiddos and enjoying it with your family by your side is something I never actually put much thought toward. But lately, as I watch my boy flip through these very pages, I’ve suddenly been getting the itch to start a new project again. Only, this time, it’ll be a little different than the insane full-custom builds and insane SEMA thrashes of yesteryear.
This time around, I really want to take my time, soak it all in, and enjoy each and every second of it with my boy by my side, turning wrenches and bringing something old to life again—giving it a second chance. That’s what this kid has done for me—given me a second chance. To really slow down and truly enjoy all that God has blessed us with in this season, to “stop and smell the old iron” so to say, and to build something we can both be proud of, TOGETHER.
Who knows where this will lead. Maybe we build his first project truck together over the next few years. Maybe we just tinker and learn together as we go. But either way—Xander & Sons’ Garage is starting to take shape! So, we shall see where this all goes, but one thing is for sure, I’m loving every single second! Seeing your son grow into a young man, seeing his own passions take shape, and watching him conquer and overcome is insanely rewarding—but also just loving them unconditionally and being there for them has truly given me a new lease on life. I think I’m probably learning more from him than he is from me, and I’m totally OK with that!
So, I guess all of this was to say, stay tuned, and we’ll see where this journey leads together! And if you happen to have a little one around who loves drawing pics of trucks and cars and/or wrenching on them together, send me some of your pictures and let’s see what you’re all up to out there!
Love and appreciate the continued support—email your pics to alexandermediainc@gmail.com and who knows, a few of them just might find their way into these pages, as well!
