Most kids growing up have dream projects and setups they’d love to have. As we get older, budgets change and wants differ, the chase for the next build becomes a high, knocking off boxes on the list. There’s always that one project that you’d do anything for, the one that you’d drive a thousand miles for, the one you secretly keep an eye out for. For Victor, it found him, well his cousin found it first, and it was perfect, all the way down to the color. Life had a plan, his cousin didn’t like the color, and offered it to Victor, which was an obvious no brainer for a dream build.
Life changes and with a growing family, a Jimmy is perfect for shows and as a daily. With everything original and just some slight work needed , he didn’t need much to get it close to his vision. A new distributor was needed, new edelbrock carburetor, and a flow master setup was installed, plus some slick Weld’s with a narrowed differential helped bring it all together with some proper fitment. Seats were redone to help keep the original plaid spec, color matched with that two tone Blue on the outside, which is a rare color to see around still in its original paint.
As a child, many dream of the perfect build, and for Victor, this dream became a reality when his cousin discovered a Jimmy in a rare two-tone blueÑa color Victor had always admired.
With shows already planned out for 2025, and a possible bag job in the future, Victor is making sure to keep his Jimmy around for years to come, never letting this one get away too far.
Victor Carrillo’s journey with his classic GMC Jimmy is a testament to the enduring passion for automotive projects. As a child, many dream of the perfect build, and for Victor, this dream became a reality when his cousin discovered a Jimmy in a rare two-tone blue—a color Victor had always admired. His cousin, uninterested due to the color, offered it to Victor, who eagerly accepted. Balancing a growing family, Victor transformed the Jimmy into both a daily driver and a showpiece. He preserved its originality by making essential upgrades: installing a new distributor, an Edelbrock carburetor, a Flowmaster exhaust system, and sleek Weld wheels paired with a narrowed differential for optimal fitment. Inside, he reupholstered the seats to maintain the original plaid design, complementing the distinctive exterior. With plans to showcase his Jimmy at various car shows in 2025 and considering future enhancements like an air suspension, Victor is dedicated to keeping this cherished vehicle a lasting part of his life.
