A Truck Enthusiast’s Dream Come True

The 2024 Triple Crown of Rodding, held on Sept. 6-7 at the Nashville Superspeedway, delivered an unforgettable experience for custom truck lovers. With stunning builds, fierce competition, and heartfelt patriotism on display, the event brought together some of the best trucks in the country, showcasing both classic and modern styles. The Triple Crown is quickly becoming a can’t-miss gathering for anyone passionate about custom trucks and hot rods, and this year was no exception.

This event, presented by PPG Refinish, crowned the best in the business, and the truck categories were fiercely contested. With categories like Truck of the Year ’72 and Earlier, Truck of the Year ’73-’87, and Truck of the Year ’88-’98, the competition was packed with exceptional builds representing decades of craftsmanship and creativity. Whether you love the raw, old-school style of a ’70s truck or the sleek lines of a ’90s custom build, there was something for everyone at the Triple Crown of Rodding.

Here’s a look at the standout trucks that took home top honors in each category:

Late-’72 Truck of the Year: ’34 Ford Pickup

Built by Vintage Fabrication, LLC and owned by Bill and Cainya Paul, this immaculate ’34 Ford pickup was a showstopper. With a perfect blend of vintage charm and modern performance, the truck demonstrated the craftsmanship that went into every square inch. It was a homage to classic design, with updates that make it a strong contender in today’s custom truck world.

’73-’87 Truck of the Year: ’85 Chevy C10

This beautifully crafted ’85 Chevy C10, built by Goolsby Customs and owned by Bruce Griffin, took home the top award in its category. Goolsby Customs is no stranger to the winner’s circle, and this truck proved why. The attention to detail and sleek lines, paired with custom touches that only a master builder could execute, made this C10 a favorite among the judges and the crowd alike.

’88 -’98 Truck of the Year: ’93 Chevy Pace Truck

In the late-model truck category, the ’88-’98 winner was a stunning ’93 Chevy Pace Truck built by Twin States Rod Shop and owned by Ty Zito. This truck took custom to the next level, with clean modifications that enhanced the factory design. The Pace Truck stood out with its striking color scheme and stance, blending the nostalgia of the ’90s with today’s performance and style.

 A Celebration of American Patriotism

The 2024 Triple Crown of Rodding was more than just a showcase of beautiful trucks—it was a celebration of American pride and craftsmanship. With 162 exhibitors displaying their work, every booth proudly flew an American flag, underscoring the event’s strong ties to American tradition. The event organizers, Gary Case and Bobby Alloway, made sure to honor veterans and first responders, raising significant funds for the Gary Sinise Foundation and the Speedway Children’s Charities through spontaneous auctions. Over $70,000 was raised for the foundation, which helps wounded veterans by building mortgage-free smart homes, and an additional $67,000 was raised for children’s charities through a pinstriping auction.

 Looking Ahead to 2025

As the dust settles from the 2024 event, plans are already in place for next year’s show. The 3rd Annual Triple Crown of Rodding will be held on Sept 5-6, 2025, once again at the Nashville Superspeedway.
