Wow, 2024 is flying by and it’s been an exciting year for us at Hypercraft. As we continue to pick up momentum with our EV powertrain options, we thought it would be a good time to pause and share some of what’s happened so far this year, and what’s coming up. Let’s start with the most exciting news first.

Top Stories

NBC Sports has all the details, but here’s the short version. Nitrocross, created by Travis Pastrana, announced in February their launch of the SIERRA Echo R-Spec EV race class, powered by Hypercraft. Nitrocross General Manager Chip Pankow says it best, “Together, we’re redefining action sports by pairing the most innovative, race-proven electric vehicle with the world of Nitrocross,…” This will be a fun race format to watch, filled with competitive action featuring custom courses with large jumps and banked turns.

Nitrocross 2024-2025 Schedule

  • September 7–8, 2024: Richmond Raceway (Richmond, Virginia)
  • October 4–5, 2024: Utah Motorsports Campus (Salt Lake City, Utah)
  • November 15–16, 2024: Wild Horse Pass Motorsport Park (Phoenix, Arizona)
  • January 11–12, 2025: Glen Helen Raceway (Los Angeles, California)
  • January 31–February 1, 2025: Calgary Stampede Park (Calgary, Alberta)
  • February 28–March 1, 2025: Las Vegas Strip (Las Vegas, Nevada)

We recently completed a second round of our popular EV101 course this year. The demand for knowledge in this space drove our decision to have both an in person course taught at our facilities, and a live online course just a few days apart in late June. The March sessions were full and we even partnered with one of our customers, Scalar Performance, to hold an EV101 course in Toronto Canada. Many of our soon-to-be customers, and innovators attend EV101 to better understand how they can partner with Hypercraft to manufacture pretty much anything that needs an EV powertrain.

As we completed an EV conversion test vehicle for Thiess (Ford F-250) late last year we also discovered a big part of our potential business is fleet conversions. All kinds of fleets are exploring how to convert existing gas/diesel vehicles into efficient EV fleets. There are tax credits, incentives, and other funding options available, but most companies have no idea where to start — but we do.

To help these fleet managers navigate the confusion, on June 25th we held our first Commercial Fleet Electrification Funding Seminar. There will be more of these in the future to help fleet managers understand the different funding options, tax credits, and grant methods available to cover a major portion of the conversion expense. There’s lots of money available. You just need to know where it is and how to qualify. This seminar helps simplify the process. If you’re interested in learning more, request our Fleet Electrification Funding guide here.

In the News

With Hypercraft’s growing leadership role in the EV industry, there are those who want to talk with Jake Hawksworth, our CEO, or interview Kirk Miller, our VP of Sales and Marketing. Both have a wealth of knowledge about Hypercraft and the growth of this new EV industry where you can buy an EV powertrain to build pretty much anything you can imagine. Check out these links to recent interviews to learn more about our successes, challenges, and strategies to grow Hypercraft.

And when Jake and Kirk aren’t doing a podcast, they’re talking with a variety of media outlets. Here are a couple you might enjoy.

  • April 17th: Electrify News | Kirk Miller
  • May 21st: Popular Mechanics, Online. For those with an online subscription, the publication did a beautiful human interest story about Lucy Block’s tribute to her late husband titled, “156 Turns. 4,725 Vertical Feet. 12.42 Miles. One Legacy.” Hypercraft is proud to have engineered and built the EV powertrain that got her to the top.

Coming Up

We also have a few upcoming events that you might be interested in.

  • July 12–13: State of Charge — Hypercraft is a proud sponsor of this event. It is an educational conference for performance EV conversions, featuring guest speakers and an EV expo. For 2024, SOC is collaborating with Electrify Expo to present a massive show in the Denver area. Attendees of SOC get free entry to Electrify Expo happening next door July 13–14.
  • September 24–26: MINEXPO — We will be attending this global event to support Thiess (Mining) as they showcase their F-250 truck that was converted to fully electric with a Hypercraft powertrain.
  • October 1–3: IBEX — This is the main event for the marine industry, attracting buyers, builders, manufacturers, boatyard operators, and industry representatives. This will be our first time to attend the show in Tampa Florida. With our success on Halevi, we have exciting proof of Hypercraft’s ability to power marine craft.
  • November 5–8: SEMA — This is the premier trade show for buyers, manufacturers, exhibitors, and media representatives in the automotive industry. Hypercraft has been a pioneer in the EV section of the show, which has grown substantially since our first appearance. If you’re not familiar with this event, check out our SEMA recap from 2023.
  • Fall (dates TBD): EV101 — Courses will be held both physically at our corporate headquarters and virtually for those that can’t attend in person. Both are live events held on separate days to ensure everyone gets the chance to engage and participate.

So, there’s all the exciting activity since the first of the year. Pretty cool stuff, right?
