Installing QA1’s Level 2 Suspension Kit

01. QA1’s Level 2 C1500 front coilover conversion system integrates control arms with coilover shocks to provide up to 4 inches of drop with the use of popular drop spindles.
02. Our 1998 Chevy Tahoe had an old school style of suspension kit that gave it a solid stand, but also a stiff ride. It’s time for a modern upgrade.
03. First step was  to get the truck on jack stands and support the lower control arm with the jack.
04. Now we could unbolt the tie rod ends and swing the spindle out of the way.
05. Next, the brake calipers were hung off the frame with a bungee cord.
06. With the upper and lower control arms disconnected we could take out the front spindle.

08. Same with the new coil spring and adjustable shocks that QA1 includes in the kit.

09. First step to reassembly was to install the new coilover shocks and coils.
10. Before we install the new upper control arm we need to bolt on the provided bump stop.
11. Now the upper control arm could be installed using the original mounting hardware.
12. Next was the lower control arm that bolts into the factory location and includes the lower shock mounts.
13. With the control arms and coilover shocks installed, we could reinstall the spindle and tighten the ball joint bolts.
14. The design of this kit is picture perfect and fits not only the Tahoe but the short and long bed OBS Chevy trucks as well.
15. Finally we could reinstall the brake caliper and brake hose cable with bolts to the new bracket on the QA1 control arms.
16. The kit was a breeze to install and, other than an alignment, it’s ready to ride on after only 2.5 hours of work. Here you can see the height difference of a Tahoe on QA1 suspension and one on an old school-style lowering kit.
