PHIL GORDAN November 06, 2024 Events Phil Gordon
If there’s one show to add to your list of events to attend, it’s Lowdown Roundup.
Located at the Des Moines Water Works Park in central Des Moines, Iowa, Lowdown Roundup is one of the most entertaining shows in the Midwest. For years, Heidi Henckel and her husband Tom had a hard time finding shows to take their custom trucks to. They decided to take matters into their own hands and create a show that was welcoming to all in the Midwest area. That show grew, and now, four years later, they have trucks showing up from the East and West coasts, not just local rides.
The weekend-long event began Friday with the standard roll-in, cruising, and music all day long. At the host hotel, the Ramada Inn at the airport, an under-glow contest went all night with dozens of vehicles showing off their neon lights. Saturday and Sunday were filled with non-stop excitement, including the car and truck limbo, frozen shirt contest, and cornhole contests, throughout the spacious park. The weekend raffle saw winners get great goodies and prizes, with all the profits go to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Some great vendors were available for everyone to visit, including Niptuk, Gough’s Rod and Customs, Karl Auto Group, Richline Motorsports, A Stitch in Time, King Kong Audio, 515 Mobile Detailing, Nerd Art, Zero Drama Gaming, Mirror Finish Detailing, 742 Industries, Nobody’s Smoke Shop, Glenn Family Woodworking, GoMobile Tires, Bath Planet, Hell Bent Hot Rods, Art by Joe Jones, Brushstrokez Airbrush, Smart Cycle, Two Wheel Detail, T-Mobile, KKustomz, and Bio-Bellum.
Sponsors of the show include Midwest Dreamer, Team Billet, Bootons World, iHatePhil, Golf Carts of Iowa, Graphic Disorder, Loco Dreamerz, Kre8ive House, Kustom Design Innovations, Waste Connections, Hatermade/Mad Gear Clothing, Nucara Pharmacy, Girl Truck’n, Stoner Car Care, Bagged & Nerdy, A King’s Throne, Branded Streets, Aire Jax, Outatime Upholstery, Riesberg Audio and Video, C&K Auto Glass, Alliance Motor Club, Scott Smith Lawn Care, Electric Diamond Tattoo, J McClish Salon, and K&G.
Heidi and her hard-working staff wish to thank everyone for making their fourth annual Lowdown Roundup a huge success. The team is already working on next year’s event. Head over to LowdownRoundup.com for more information and show dates.
