Father & Son Duo

If you know me, then you know that I’m ALL about family! Passing on our passion and love for custom trucks to the next generation is a pretty big deal around these parts—especially if you consider how there are fewer kids running out and getting their driver’s license these days. At 16 years old, there was NOTHING getting in my way from getting my license and hitting the open road. Kids these days have a lot more distractions and “un-important” things occupying their “free-time” so it is truly up to us as parents to pass the torch and show them our love and passion for the truck scene and all that it stands for.

Enter Josh Rowan of Rowan Conceptz and his son Josh Rowan Jr. RowanConceptz was founded in 2011, but Josh senior started early on by watching his dad build hot rods in the garage. Josh has drawn cars and trucks since he can remember, and all the way through high school (even to the point of getting in trouble a few times for it haha). His mom, Fran Rowan, always told him that he’d go far with his artwork, but Josh didn’t really take it seriously until about 10 years ago. In 2015, Josh was out of work due to a surgery, and it was time he buckled down and began to get serious about honing his creative and artistic talents.

Josh knew he had to do something different and started drawing for people to help provide for his family. With the help and motivation of his wife Trisha, RowanConceptz became their new reality. Being a lifelong truck driver and finally being able to step out of the truck after 20 years, Josh and his family experienced a completely different shift in priorities. Being a true hot rodder his entire life, he has a knack for seeing things a bit differently when it comes to custom artwork. It began by drawing hot rods, mini-trucks, and motorcycles and then expanded to tractor-trailers in 2016. He started with custom posters and has now delved into digital designs, logos, t-shirt graphics, and stickers.

With the help of family friend Evan Steger of Evans Detailing and Polishing/Time 2  Shine, it took RowanConceptz further than Josh originally thought possible. This hard work and shining talent eventually led brothers Justin and Eli Griffin at Twin States Rod Shop to see Rowan’s art—and they needed a t-shirt design for Dino’s Git Down. A few months later Eli asked Josh about helping with designing the door graphic for “Project Indy Killer” the insane OBS built by the talented brothers at Twin States, which they were debuting at Battle in Bama 2024. They also added more t-shirt designs and skate deck graphics to their lineup for the Battle in Bama 2024 show display. This relationship quickly developed from a business partnership to a great friendship.

While doing custom art full time, Josh Sr. was also building his insane full-blown custom ‘Burban with his son Josh Jr. (Lil’ Josh), who has always been in the shop since he was born in 2008. He was always out there handling tools and showing interest in everything, and in 2019 Lil’ Josh started helping with the next chapter of Snooki (the ‘Burban build). Ever since then, he has been hooked.

The plan is to keep the 454 but beef it up some along with an altitude-adjustment (‘bagged of course), and tubbed out with 31×18-20 Mickey Thompsons and a huge sound system.”

In 2021, a lifelong family friend, B-Bob Bretschneider, gifted Josh Jr. an 80,000-mile 1990 454SS that he ordered new in 1989. He wanted Josh to have it before he passed away in 2023. Josh has been fully passionate about it from day one. It was crashed but salvageable, and now the father-and-son duo has big plans for it to be a show truck and daily driver. The plan is to keep the 454 but beef it up some along with an altitude-adjustment (‘bagged of course), and tubbed out with 31×18-20 Mickey Thompsons and a huge sound system.

Slowly but surely, we know the Rowans will make another dream into reality. It will forever and always be known as “The Predator” as she was originally named by B-Bob. Stay tuned in these pages for the first look and finished feature!
