The Grand Opening

Platinum Black, on Belva Dr. and Metzler Ln. in Huntington Beach, California, specializes in the service and repair of rods, customs and classics, but the crew will also perform complete builds. Partners Jon Wainwright and Chris Jonas want this to be a facility that the rodding community feels comfortable bringing their cars to; he wants rodders to have confidence that the work will be completed to the highest possible standards.

On Aug. 24, 2014, Platinum Black celebrated its grand opening. The day was clear and warm, and lots of cars and people showed up to the party.  All four of the large bay doors were open, inviting guests to come in to take a look around the very clean facility. A portion of the facility is dedicated to vehicle storage, and bays to service cars occupy the remaining space. One bay held Andy Humenik’s front-engine, nitro-burning, Hemi dragster, and it was rolled outside and fired up to entertain the crowd. Platinum Black provided liquid refreshments and great handmade tacos with beans and rice to fuel the celebration. We wish Jon and Chris good luck with their new venture.
