If you own a 2007 and later RAM truck with the 6.7L Cummins engine, there is a potential disaster waiting to happen. The air intake grid heater has a stud and nut assembly that takes 12 volt power from the battery and passes it to a metal strip that in turn energizes the heater. Over time, this assembly can literally melt and fall into the intake runner, making its way to number six cylinder. All too often, the results are severe piston, valve, and cylinder head damage—or worse, total engine failure. We can see the dollar signs dancing in your head over that.

If you catch the problem before the stud and nut assembly falls off, the factory fix is to install the same part with the same failure potential. The Banks Power Monster-Ram Intake Elbow has 1/4-inch NPT ports for water, methanol, propane, or nitrous injection as well as pressure or temperature sensors. It’s available in natural, black powdercoat, and red powdercoat finishes.
