Keep Your Butt Planted

Nothing improves the feel of high-performance driving like a high-quality racing seat. We’ve all heard the clichÉ “driving by the seat of your pants,” but when you’re driving aggressively through corners, it really is important that you stay planted in your seat. You’ll be better able to feel the suspension response, because braking, steering and acceleration input are felt through your butt, hips and hands. A snug fit with aggressive shoulder, hip and leg bolsters will keep you in a comfortable driving position so that you can focus on the road ahead and feel your car’s every move.

PROCAR by SCAT manufactures high-quality performance seats for your pro-touring, autocross, muscle car, street rod, truck or SUV. We visited V’s Performance in Orange, California, to follow the installation of a pair of PROCAR by SCAT Evolution performance seats. Check it out!

1. Factory 2010 Camaro SS/RS bucket seat.
2. A ratchet with a long extension and torque head socket were used to remove the two rear seat mounting bracket bolts. The front of the mounting bracket was secured by two factory cleats.
3.After removing the mounting bolts and electric switch plug, the factory Camaro bucket seat was carefully removed.

5. This comparison image shows a more aggressive PROCAR Evolution (80-1616-57L) suspended seat (left) that features a wide headrest with dual shoulder harness ports and oversize shoulder, lat, hip and leg bolsters that keep the driver planted in the seat.
6. The seats are covered in durable vinyl with a padded, breathable insert and double stitching. If you aren’t using a racing lap belt, an optional lap belt latch is securely affixed to the mounting bracket. An easy-to-reach seat adjustment lever allows you to position the seat exactly where you want it. The seat back is supported by a reinforced molded carbon fiber overlay.

9. After properly attaching the SCAT PROCAR seat to the mounting bracket, the unit is ready to be installed.
10. Jancev carefully lays the SCAT PROCAR Evolution racing seat into position.
11. Again, a ratchet with a long extension and torque head socket were used to secure the two rear seat mounting bolts.
12. The two SCAT PROCAR Evolution racing seats give the interior a competitive appearance.
