Cars and Coffee shows are plentiful nowadays. But many don’t last the test of time as they violate some basic rules of car show etiquette.
Dustin Troyan’s Supercar Sunday in Woodland Hills has been going for over 16 years and is a good example of how it works. Rules have to be laid down consistently in order for everyone to have a good time. But the basics… are simply basic of you want your show to keep going.
Rule #1 is RESPECT.
Those that come in and have an overwhelming need to call attention to themselves by revving their engines, doing burnouts or driving at high speeds are what shut these shows down for everyone.
You can see the results of this everywhere. It’s selfish behavior and the police are just waiting to intervene. These drivers don’t care about others or about the show. They just need to have all eyes on them or to get video so they can have views.
What these folks seem to miss about Cars & Coffee events is that it’s a family. A group of like-minded individuals who respect and care for and about each other.
Rule #2 is RESPECT.
That means that stop just thinking about yourself and give. Give time, stories and love to the show. That way, everyone’s working with the show to expand and enhance everyone’s experience.
Rule #3 is also RESPECT.
Others want the same thing – to have fun. And doing burnouts runs the risk of hitting someone, that’s not respect. And trust me, I’ve sadly lost friends because cars have lost control. Revving and popping exhausts is not cool either, as there are little kids, dogs, parents, and people telling stories. So cool it.
Bottom line is that if you RESPECT the show, the gift you’ll get will be tremendous.
Big thanks to Dustin at Supercar Sunday for constantly reminding us that we’re a family. Do the same at your show and watch the coolness grow.
