WHEN Enrique De Luna from Fort Worth, Texas, set out to build his 2016 GMC Sierra, he had a clear vision: to create a one-of-a-kind show truck that not only turned heads but also reflected his personal style and dedication. Named Sweet16, this teal green masterpiece is a testament to patience, hard work, and Enrique’s love for custom trucks.
The transformation began with the truck’s stance. The factory suspension was swapped out for a fully custom air suspension setup using Slam Specialties air bags and Air Lift air management. JST Kustoms LLC handled the chassis work, including a C-notch to help the truck lay frame while maintaining a smooth ride. Sitting on massive 28×9 front and 28×12 rear Lexani LX wheels, Sweet16 commands attention with its perfect balance of aggressive stance and clean lines.
Body modifications were kept sleek and purposeful. Custom wheeltubs were fabricated to accommodate the oversized wheels, and the entire truck was sprayed in Akzo Nobel teal green by Draztik in Fort Worth. To tie everything together, Enrique added tribal graphics that run along the body, adding a touch of flair without overwhelming the build.
Under the hood, the Sierra retains its reliable 5.3L V-8, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. While performance upgrades are minimal, the truck’s primary focus is on aesthetics and ride quality. The interior, however, saw a full overhaul with black leather upholstery, color-matched interior trim pieces, and a custom-built center console featuring matching graphics.
Sweet16 is more than a showpieceÑit’s a rolling reminder that with hard work and determination, even a modern truck can become a timeless custom.
Enrique built Sweet16 not just to showcase his skills but also to promote his business. He spent nine months and under $40,000 crafting a truck that has stood out at shows like Texas Truck Invasion and October Truck Madness. When asked about the process, Enrique is quick to admit, “Nothing was easy. Patience is key. If it were easy, everyone would be doing it.”
