More Than 1,000 Classics Gather in Costa Mesa
The 32nd annual Great Labor Day Cruise was presented in Costa Mesa, California, August 29-31. The weather was warm, perfect for everyone displaying their vehicles and the spectators.
There was a lot to see, with more than 1,000 classic cars participating in the cruise. Friends who might not have seen each other for a year reunited for three days of cruising, visiting with fellow enthusiasts, making new buddies and checking out some of the vendors’ offerings.
Friday night was movie night at the main mall stage, and of course it had to be Cars. Live bands played Saturday to entertain the crowd, including Joey and the Monsoons and later Just Press Play. The TV show Chop Cut Rebuild, in its 10th season on MavTV, filmed live at the cruise Friday and Saturday with host Dan Woods.
Anyone who didn’t come to the show in a ride they could be proud of had a chance to win a terrific vehicle. Ricio and Lucendia Davis were the lucky winners of the sharp Ford EFI-fueled, 302-powered ’65 Ford Mustang giveaway car. For those who brought their pride and joy, there was the chance to be recognized by winning one of 29 unique, handmade awards presented at Sunday’s ceremony. Believe it or not, the Long Distance award went to a car that traveled all the way from Sweden.
