Motortopia Staff November 12, 2024 Press Release
Corona, California – November 12, 2024 – TMI Products, the leader in custom automotive interiors, introduces a complete interior product line for the 1986-1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Understanding that factory interiors haven’t held up well over time, TMI allows owners to replace each interior component with a quality TMI designed and engineered version, giving these Monte Carlos a new lease on life.
Full Monte
TMI’s Monte Carlo lineup includes seats, headliners, visors, carpet kits, floor mats, door panels and interior quarter panels, steering wheels, dash pads, and consoles. Catering to those on a budget or wanting to replace worn out components first, these products are available individually and in a variety of matching patterns. Owners looking to do it all in one shot, can purchase the complete interior at once.
Preferred Seating
With TMI seating, there isn’t a bad seat in the house. Monte Carlo customers can choose between the Pro-Series Lowback or the tall Pro-Series Trans-Am seat styles for the front row. Both the TMI Pro-Series Lowback or high-back Pro-Series Trans-Am seats are designed to provide more support on either side of the seat bottom with high bolstering to keep you firmly planted and in control, while both seats can be optioned with removable headrests. Seat adjustments are easy thanks to reclining seatbacks and sliding tracks.
Made with top quality cover materials, these seats are constructed in house and come pre-assembled from all-metal frames and molded seat foam. These seats are 100-percent bolt-in with the appropriate mounting brackets. Personalization is key and there is a wide variety of patterns, colors, materials, and contrast stitching available.
Between the seats, TMI offers the Full-Length Console, which can be optioned with a shifter cutout that will accommodate just about any shifter and paired with one cup holder, or two cup holders without a cutout. TMI consoles are made from sturdy fiberglass and high-quality material and it flows all the way under the dash and can be matched with the rest of the interior theme for a complete look.
Even rear seat passengers get the TMI treatment with fresh upholstery and new foam. The ’86-’87 rear seat reuses the existing factory seat frame and is available with or without a console.
Door Dash
Also receiving TMI’s attention are the door panels, interior quarter panels, and dash pad. TMI’s molded door panels have been created to be direct-fit upgrades to the OEM pieces. The door panels are constructed of lightweight fiberglass that is then upholstered with vinyl or suede in the same pattern and colorway as the seats, to keep the design theme consistent throughout. Rear interior quarter panels are constructed from a Masonite panel and upholstered to match, creating a complete look.
No interior transformation is complete without a new dash pad and TMI’s Monte Calo dash pad is designed to withstand years of sun and still look amazing, something you can’t say about the stock dash pad. TMI’s dash pads start with a molded fiberglass core that is then wrapped in quality color-matched vinyl and simply attaches over the existing dash with hook-and-loop fasteners.
From The Bottom Up
Part of TMI’s Monte Carlo interior overhaul includes trunk carpet, floor mats, headliner, and visors. The multi-panel trunk kits include fender panels, a rear divider (behind the rear seats), an inner panel that fits around the trunk latch, a trunk lid cover, and carpet that is color matched to the cabin. The panels themselves are constructed of durable, yet flexible, chipboard that is covered in quality vinyl and is fashioned to directly mirror the interior pattern, with some styles even including chrome molding. Trunk kits are designed to complete any interior installation.
One of the biggest areas of need on this generation of ’86-’87 Monte Carlo is the headliner, and the TMI headliner is a direct-fit replacement. Available in a variety of materials, depending on vehicle model year. The headliner will accent any TMI interior design, complimenting the seat pattern styles and color. Completing the headliner installation, sun visors are constructed in-house with a vinyl outer cover, a strong, flexible, and durable inner core, and are designed to fit into the stock mounting location. Visors are vehicle and year-specific.
Steered Straight
TMI Sport 14-inch Steering Wheels are the final piece to any complete TMI interior transformation for the Monte Carlo. Constructed of high-quality billet aluminum and finished in silver, steering wheels can be custom covered to match interior color with two horn button options.
Any of these new products can be ordered to the customer’s exact specifications, and with a palette of colors and a variety of patterns available. Using TMI Products ensures that vehicle owners can find the perfect, and complete, match for their project. Designing a complete interior is as easy as pointing your browser toward TMI’s online configurator.
