We found this German-made 1969 VW Bus in Mexico sitting in a backyard rusting away under a large tree. The bus was a California car last registered in 1984. We bought it and began the bus restoration in 2017.

From the beginning, we wanted to restore a classic car that we would use often and enjoy. The idea wasn’t to build a show car, rather we wanted to enjoy and create great memories.

The restore took 2 years, lots of metal work, and paint. Personalizing the bus was so much fun. We chose a Hawaiian theme with bamboo floors because of our love of Maui, Aloha, and Ohana (family).

Our greatest memory with the bus was taking it out for a long weekend to go camping on the beach. Our camping trips in the bus is what we look forward to as well as sharing our work with classic car enthusiasts like us.

After it was ready, My wife and I wanted to share our classic VW with the community. We met PJ Sanger, our now President of AirKooled Klassics Ventura County Car Club during a classic car cruise. PJ welcomed us into their club with open arms and introduced us to many other like minded people that have a passion for their Aircooled Volkswagens. This family oriented car club inspired my wife to buy her own classic and recently bought and personalized her own 1968 VW Squareback. We now love to show our classic VWs with our AirKooled Klassics family and friends.
